UK Appeals To Nigeria To Abolish Death Penalty

The United Kingdom on Monday appealed to Nigeria to abolish the death penalty, saying that capital punishment cheapened human life.

The UK made the appeal in a statement issued by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, on the 2016 World Day against the Death Penalty.

 The Nigeria Police on Monday paraded nine suspects allegedly responsible for the kidnap of Margret Emefiele, the wife of Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

According to Premium Times, two of the suspects are serving soldiers of the Nigerian Army, while another is a dismissed soldier.
