REB RED ALERT,INTERVIEW WITH TMJ

First of all we want to take out time to say a big thank you for honoring our interview

As usual we always go digging and this is what we found He is a top Artiste in FUTMINA a 500 level student and goes

by the name TMJ.

REB: What is your real name?

TMJ: My real name is Tomide Joseph.



REB: When did you decide that you were going to do music?

TMJ:I decided i would go into music professionally in the year 2011.

REB: How were you able to convince your parents that music is what you want to do? And how did they take it at first ?

TMJ: well..... i didnt really need to do much convincing... i was in the choir from abt age 6 .. so they always knew deep

down i might result to music eventually. So it wasnt that much of a big deal when they got to know abt my music career.

REB: How have you been able to mix schooling and music?

TMJ: well... everything requires planning... so all i have to do is strategise and plan my activities in such a way that

one does not hinder the other... nd this involves late night studies for my academics , and less extra curicular activities

in order to also focus on my music.


REB: Although I wasn't able to place fingers on any of your tracks but I hear you a jazz musician ? What has been your

inspiration? And how have you been able to stay relevant?

TMJ: well.... i would really classify my self as a jazz musician.. i do jazz .. yes? also dabble in afro, soul music, R&B ,

Funk... And well... my inspiration is my environment... things happening to people around me. Things happening

around me... things happening to me... my emotions at the time... what i feel the world needs to hear at that particular

time or season.

REB: Which producers or musicians do you want to work with?

TMJ: OMO!!! It wont be bad to work with *Asa* *Timidakolo* *Justine-Timberlake* *Bruno-Mars* *Wiz-Kid*

*Patoranking* *Chrisbrown* *2-BaBa* *Tiwasavage* see.. them plenty

As for producers.. i dont know so many. Already i love my current producer. *Drill-meister* but i,d also like to work

with *Cobhamz* *Donjazzy* *selebobo*

REB: Who do you have lots of respect for? And which musician did you grow up listening to?

TMJ: i have lots of respect for

Bruno mars,justine timberlake, asa,wizkid,beyonce,tiwa savage,2baba,timi dakolo, omawunmi.

I grew up listening mainly to gospel songs... but my teenage years, i spent listening to Bruno mars, chrisbrown, T-pain ,Beyonce, Usher, P-square , 2-face, Style plus( i loved style plus) D-Bang.

REB: What are you working on now?

TMJ: I,m currently workin on a Soulful yet socially concious track with a little bit of afro to spice things up.. that tells a

story about people who are too lazy to follow their dreams and have accepted status_quo.. and inspires them to push

harder.. because "if you must to chup, you must to work" Mr storyteller

So the name of this track is STORY TELLER.

REB: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

TMJ: in the next 5 years i see my self being an A list artist no only in Nigeria or africa BUT the WORLD .. i feel like i

have so much to give.. And i also see my self as a successful business man .. with A Family.

REB: What is one thing you have always wanted people to know?

TMJ: i want ppl to know u dont always hav to conform to society....be different,

well.. i,d love to go into acting.. after i have a strong footing in my music career.
